Younger singer to fdace Open Mic UK judges
A TEENAGER is hoping to show she has talent to rival the X Factor finalists when she takes to the stage for the regional final of a talent competition.
Jess Winwood, 15, will sing Adele’s Chasing Pavements at the event in Reading on Sunday, which is part of the live stages of Open Mic UK 2012.
The Isambard Community School pupil will perform at the O2 Arena in London if she makes it through to the national final, but will need to impress judges with several more performances first.
“For the auditions we only had to sing a little clip but in this round I will have to sing a whole song. I am excited and nervous,” she said.
“I want more experience and more confidence. Getting through to this round is a good achievement.
“I would love to be a musician but I know how hard it is to actually get there.
“I am hoping to do something with performing arts involved when I am older.”
Open Mic UK 2012 searches for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material.
Jess will be performing in front of a live audience and a panel of judges at Sub89 on Sunday.
She sang Jar Of Hearts by Christina Perry for her first audition.
