A TUTOR who has spent more than 30 years helping members of Liddington Art Group to create masterpieces is leaving the role.
Celebrations were held for Geoff Glover, 73, at the Blunsdon House Hotel to mark the end of his time with the group.
He has been helping its members use watercolours, oil paintings and pastels since the group started.
“It is nice to see people improve. They come along and say ‘I want to paint this but I have got a problem’. I like people and I like tutoring,” he said.
“If they want to do it, I am there to help them. They express an interest and I push them on and see how far they should go.”
Liddington Art Group, which has 33 members, has an exhibition every year.
“I am sad to be leaving. It is because of the people that I have stayed so long. I have been driving from Corsham every Friday,” he said.
“I am stopping because the clocks are going back and the drive is a long way.”
Geoff studied BA Art and then studied a postgraduate in education at Reading.
A presentation was held on Friday and there was also a buffet lunch with members of the art group.
The group, who meet in Liddington Village Hall every Friday, will continue in future but will have a new tutor.
