Tribute to ‘committed family man’
8:00am Thursday 1st November 2012 in News
THE wife of the man who was found dead at a retail park has paid tribute to him as a ‘committed family man’.
Barry Young, 47, was found dead by paramedics around midday on Monday after being alerted by CCTV operators at Greenbridge Retail Park.
They reported spotting a man lying motionless on the ground, but when paramedics arrived Mr Young, of Pearl Road, Middleleaze, was pronounced dead.
His wife of 25 years, Alicja Young, said: “Barry was a very committed family man and we spent a lot of time together. He was very happy in his family life.
“He leaves behind three adoring children.
“Barry and I met when we were both doing voluntary work in Swindon. We were married for 25 years and were deeply in love.
“He enjoyed his work, which involved computers, and got on well with his workmates.
“Barry was a keen photographer and one of his pictures of the Ridgeway was chosen by the Prospect Hospice in Wroughton for the front cover of their calendar.
“He was also a keen artist and enjoyed painting in his spare time.
“He had a ready smile and was always quick to offer a helping hand in the community.”
Detectives have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Young’s death.
At the time, a spokesman for GWAS said: "We got a call reporting a male seen lying down on the ground on CCTV – they had spotted him and there was no movement.
“We sent a paramedic and a rapid response vehicle but on arrival the man was found to be beyond our help.
“We informed the police. There are no details regarding injuries or the cause.”
A police spokesman said: “Wiltshire Police can confirm that the man whose body was found at Greenbridge Retail Park in Swindon on Monday has been identified by family members.
“He was Mr Barry Young, aged 47, of Pearl Road, Middleleaze.
“A post mortem examination is expected to take place today. A full report will be prepared for HM Coroner for Swindon and Wiltshire.”
