IT’S that time of year again... when we wave our magic wand and help make some Christmas wishes come true.

With the countdown to the big day now well underway, we are launching our Christmas Wish Appeal 2012 – and we want to hear from you about the people who deserve an extra special treat this year.

From December 11 to Christmas Eve, we will be granting a wish a day for one worthy person or group in Swindon or the nearby villages.

Wishes can be big or small – our aim is simply to make Christmas as magical as possible for those who deserve it most.

Adver editor Gary Lawrence said: “We love it when Christmas rolls around each year and we can launch our Christmas Wish Appeal. We think it encompasses what Christmas is all about – putting a smile on people’s faces.

“Last year we had all manner of different requests, and we were delighted to make some really special wishes come true – everything from Chelsea FC tickets for a teenager with cerebral palsy to a new bike for a pensioner whose old one had been damaged in a crash.

“It doesn’t matter if the wish is huge or relatively simple. It just has to be something that will make someone’s Christmas a special one.”

Last year’s appeal was a big success. Among the wishes granted were a bowling trip and a visit from Santa for three-year-old Rhys Hopkins-Staples, whose daddy had died from cancer, and a pampering session and hotel stay for Michelle Maddison and her family, as she recovered from a brain tumour. We also arranged for 12-year-old Jess Robinson to feed the penguins at Cotswold Wildlife Park after she lost her mum to breast cancer.

So, if you can think of someone who really needs or deserves cheering up this Christmas, we want to hear from you today. Tell us who the person is, why they need a Christmas Wish and how we can help.
