A NUMBER of children who were caught throwing items from one of the bridges over Thamesdown Drive spent time working in the community at the weekend to make amends for their behaviour.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team responded to a call from a member of the public who had seen a small group of youngsters throwing moss, sticks, an egg and a plaster barrier from road works off the pedestrian bridge which links Abbeymeads and St Andrews Ridge. No vehicles were hit by the falling objects and no drivers were affected.

A police spokesman said: “The children are now aware of how dangerous their behaviour was, and the potential consequences of their actions.

“They have apologised and given up their free time to carry out litter picking duties around the footpaths and green spaces as part of a local resolution.”
