SMOKING among young people in Swindon declined from 28 per cent in 2004 to 11 per cent last year, according to the latest available figures. The Child Health-Related Behaviour Survey was conducted across a number of schools in Swindon. The information was provided to Swindon Council’s Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, which meets tonight.
The Government wants to reduce the number of smokers aged 15 to 12 per cent or less from 15 per cent nationally by the end of 2015.
