FAMILIES are being invited to listen to a silver band and have their faces painted professionally at a garden centre this weekend.

Wroughton Silver Band and face painter Sue Bardwell will be at Swindon Garden Centre as part of its free Christmas Fair Weekend.

Lewis Fox, manager of the garden centre in Hyde Road in Stratton St Margaret, said: “We will be welcoming visitors to our special festive weekend and, to celebrate, we have organised some entertainment for our customers.

“Sue will be on hand to paint children’s faces on Saturday, from noon until 3pm. On Sunday, from 11am until 12.45pm, the Wroughton Silver Band will be performing Christmas tunes.”

Representatives of the NSPCC Swindon will be visiting the garden centre on both days, from 11am until 3.30pm, to talk to people about the work they do.

They will also be selling NSPCC Christmas cards, calendars and cakes to raise funds for the children’s welfare charity.

There will also be craft stalls, with each stall holder donating £5 a day to NSPCC Swindon. Swindon Garden Centre will have festive displays featuring an array of gifts, decorations, lights and artificial Christmas trees.

Customers can add the finishing touches to their Christmas shopping in-store, with special wrapping papers and ribbons.
