SONGSTER Jahmene Douglas was honoured by his workplace at the weekend as customers at Asda Walmart were able to buy a new Chicken Jahmene meal.

To show support for colleague and X Factor star, Jahmene Douglas, Asda superstore launched a limited edition Chicken Chow Mein – re-naming the popular Chinese dish after the singing sensation.

For one weekend only, the Chosen by you Chicken Chow Mein was known as Chicken Jahmene and 23p from each pack sold went towards national charity, Women’s Aid, in a bid to raise money for the cause. The charity, for which Jahmene’s mum works and is close to his heart, supports a network of over 500 domestic and sexual violence services across the UK.

The 21-year-old, who until July was working in the chilled department of Asda Walmart, is being closely followed by hundreds of workers and customers at the store.

Staff are selling T-shirts with Vote Jahmene on them. His face has also been plastered on the back of the home delivery vans.

Jackie Anderson, from Asda, said: “We’re so proud of Jahmene and all the incredible performances he does week in, week out on the X Factor so we really want to get behind him and offer our support.”
