HOUSEBUILDER Barratt is celebrating the success of Swindon site manager, Mike Sawyer, who has won the National House-Building Council’s Seal of Excellence award.

Mr Sawyer, who is based at Wichelstowe, was one of the local recipients of a Pride in the Job Award and has now been honoured at the regional awards with this latest accolade.

He is now one of just 76 site managers in the UK to receive a Seal of Excellence award.

Barratt’s managing director, Richard Gregory, said he was delighted with the success and said the award was a tribute to Mr Sawyer’s dedication to quality.

He said: “These awards are not given out lightly. They are in recognition of some outstanding work from site managers.

“Quality is a very high priority for us, from the design and build of our homes to the level of customer service.

“Our site managers work hard to make sure that all of our developments meet the very high standards customers rightly expect from us.

“I’m pleased that this effort has been recognised.”

NHBC’s Pride in the Job is the only national competition to focus on a site manager’s contribution to the production of high quality new homes. It was set up in 1980 to seek out the UK’s best site managers and reward them for creating quality, beautifully finished homes.

Thousands of managers each year are assessed in several aspects of site management – including technical knowledge, consistency in the building process and leadership and organisational skills.

Mr Gregory added: “This is a fantastic achievement, one supported by the many members of our team who all help to make it all possible and I look forward to this year’s success being repeated for many years to come.”
