A SPECIAL weekend with her family at the De Vere Village was a Christmas Wish come true for Michelle Maddison.
Michelle, of Groundwell West, was diagnosed with a small brain tumour three years ago and last Christmas it was affecting her eyesight, which prevented her from driving.
Her daughter, Phoebe, who has Type 1 diabetes, nominated her for a pampering session because she wanted her mum to feel ‘special and better’.
Michelle, a beauty therapist, said: “It was a lovely treat. We were given a superior room to stay in overnight, it was beautiful.
“The food was delicious and the service in the restaurant was really good. I enjoyed all of it.
“It was really nice to relax and not to have to think about anything.”
The family were treated to an overnight stay, use of the leisure facilities, a treatment session and a spa goody bag.
Michelle finished treatment for the brain tumour in March and is waiting for the results of her latest MRI scan.
She has had her eyes tested and was told her sight is back to normal, so she is currently waiting for the DVLA to finish paperwork to allow her back in the driving seat.
We launched our Christmas Wish Appeal 2012 recently – and we want to hear from you about the people who deserve an extra special treat this year.
From December 11 to Christmas Eve, we will be granting a wish a day for one worthy person or group in Swindon or the nearby villages.
Wishes can be big or small – our aim is simply to make Christmas as magical as possible for those who deserve it most.
If you can think of someone who needs or deserves cheering up this Christmas, we want to hear from you. Tell us who the person is, why they need a Christmas Wish and how we can help. You can send in your nomination in the following ways:
By email: Click here to send us details of who deserves a Christmas Wish. Please remember to include what the wish should be and why. Give your email the subject header ‘Christmas Wish 2012’. Please be sure to include your own phone number and the number of the person you are nominating.
