THE town centre Christmas lights switch on tomorrow night has been cancelled due to the weather.
The event, which was due to take place in Wharf Green, has been rescheduled for December 5 from 5pm in Wharf Green.
Simon Jackson, chief executive of inSwindon, said: "We had to make this decision based on the severe weather conditions for the comfort, and more importantly the safety of the crowd and performers.
“We are expecting high winds, as well as heavy rain, which prevents the fireworks display happening as recommended from our supplier.
“We are working with all those involved in the event to confirm their ability to take part in the rescheduled date, and we hope to add another special guest to the billing to further the excitement that this event brings to the town every year.
“I would advise everyone to log on to swindontowncentre.co.uk for further details and updates as and when they are released.”
