Swindon South MP Robert Buckland
SWINDON South MP Robert Buckland has delivered Christmas thanks to Royal Mail posties at a Swindon Delivery Office.
The MP visited Royal Mail’s West Swindon delivery office on Friday to thank the postmen and women for all their hard work at the busiest time of year.
Mr Buckland was shown round the office by manager Simon Knibb and was introduced to the staff who are working hard to sort and deliver all the cards and parcels in the West Swindon area in the run-up to Christmas.
“It was great to meet the hard-working Royal Mail postmen and women at West Swindon delivery office and to see first hand just how much effort they put into delivering for people at this time of year,” said Mr Buckland.
“I would like to thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best over the busy festive period.”
Mr Knibb said they were grateful to the MP for taking the time to look behind the scenes.
“Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail.
“Our people really do pull out all the stops throughout the year to ensure mail is delivered quickly, but even more so over the busy festive period.
“We are grateful that Robert Buckland came along to see the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
“Our people do a fantastic job at this time of year to ensure that friends and families stay in touch through their Christmas greetings and gifts.
“And as usual, we’d like to remind our customers to post early so that friends and family have longer to enjoy their Christmas greetings.”

I'm glad to see that Amazon have stopped using Royal Mail for deliveries and starting using private courier companies. Companies who can actually read delivery instructions and who DELIVER your parcels, unlike Royal Mail.

If the Posties were paid piece work then they might actually be bothered to deliver stuff""
I think you will find that is true of pretty much every industry, too many shirkers being propped up by those who do work hard. bring in perfomance related pay as the norm, its the only fair way to pay people for what they actually do and weed out the lazy ones.

You can guarantee at peak times the unions ask for more money or better conditions--meaning --less work for more pay or we will disrupt all other business's until we get our way whilst everyone else has to suffer.
