North Swindon police have reported a small spike in break-ins in the area and across Swindon this week.
In most cases the offenders have broken into the houses via the back garden, often through rear patio doors, sometimes by smashing them.
A spokesman said: “Please make sure your windows and doors are locked up tight, don’t leave keys in the locks, and take a look at your garden to work out ways to keep burglars out. Also keep any garden tools or heavy objects which could be used to smash windows out of sight.
“But most of all keep your eyes peeled for anyone looking suspicious in your street, call us if you hear burglar alarms or hear noises like breaking glass – or consider setting up a Neighbourhood Watch for your area.”
Call police on 101 with any information about the recent break-ins.
