PUPILS have helped to raise funds for charity by getting creative.

Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 at St Luke’s School, in Cricklade Road, have helped to raise £160 for four charities by making Christmas cards and calendars and selling them at their Christmas fair.

The money will be divided between Swindon Guide Dogs, RSPCA North Wiltshire, the British Heart Foundation and SMASH Youth Project.

Headteacher Jane Cordes said: “Year 7, 8 and 9 have lessons all about emotional intelligence, which are called EQ lessons.

“They develop life skills and empathy towards other people.

“As part of that they raised money for charity by making Christmas cards, calendars and decorations.

“The whole school joined in with the Christmas fair and parents were invited too.

“As headteacher I am very proud of the pupils.

“And I would like to make a special thank you to higher level teaching assistants, Lucy Wilkinson and Sue Matthews, who planned, organised and ran the whole event.”
