Callas Hill closed due to gas leak
CALLAS Hill is currently closed due to a gas leak.
The Wales and West asked Swindon Council to close road between Wanborough and Fox Hill while they fix the problem. A diversion is in place via Hinton Parva.
A spokesman for Wales and West Utilities said: "We are in the process of repairing a minor gas leak caused by general wear and tear to a gas valve controlling pressure on part of the gas network in the Callas Hill area of Swindon.
"This work is scheduled to be completed by Saturday.
"The leaking valve has been monitored and at no time has it raised any safety concerns. It is now being repaired as part of our routine maintenance programme.
"As a precaution, and to ensure the safety of road users and our workforce, the road has been closed for the duration of the repair, with a diversion route clearly signposted.
"If people smell gas they should call the national gas emergency number - 0800 111 999."
