IT WASN’T just four weddings and a funeral at The Moonrakers pub in Stratton last year – more like 30 weddings and 72 funerals.

Landlady Bev Neal, who runs the pub with husband Pete, said: “If we did 30 weddings last year, and we’ve got a lot booked already for 2013, then I reckon marriage is on the rise in Swindon – or at least around here. Our customers are certainly making the most of the space to get together with friends and family.”

And after so many weddings, Bev and Pete are now expecting a rush of christening party bookings. “It might all be doom and gloom in the economy, but people around this area love an excuse to celebrate, and we’re really lucky that they like doing it here,” said Bev.
