A MAGICAL evening of fairytale fantasy is guaranteed when Tiverton Players stage their version of Sleeping Beauty at Gorse Hill Community Centre, in Chapel Street, this week.

About 12 members of the Players are putting on five showings of the classic story between Wednesday, January 23 and Saturday, January 26, and they are expecting a large turn-out of families.

They have been rehearsing for weeks and on Sunday they staged their dress rehearsal before the first show.

The cast is aged between 15 and 65. Bella Bees, 15, plays the princess and Matthew Knotts, 18, plays the prince.

Jess Knotts, the co-director, said: “It went better than expected. We’re quite happy with it and we have just got the actual show now. It seemed to have gone down well on Sunday, everyone seems pretty confident with it, so it’s just a matter of turning up on the night and seeing how it goes.

“It’s just fun for the family and fun for the kids and they can join in and there’s a few jokes and stuff.”

There are performances starting at 7.30pm every day from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive, plus a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £5.50 for adults, £4 for children or pensioners, and £16 for a family comprising two adults and two children. Book in advance by calling Jess or Debbie Knotts on 01793 640271.
