A SWINDON man killed after being hit by a car while walking along a country road has been named as Mark Howard Staddon.
Mr Staddon, 34, was walking along the A4 at Fyfield, near Marlborough, when he was struck by a Jaguar, driven by a 54-year-old man, at around 7.20pm on Monday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and the road was closed for three-and-a-half hours while the Police Serious Collision Investigation Team examined the scene.
Inspector Steve Cox said: "At around 7.20pm on Monday a fatal injury road traffic collision occured on the A4 at Fyfield, near Marlborough.
"That section of the road is a single-carriageway with a 60mph speed limit. The circumstances are that a 34-year-old man was walking along the A4 when he was in collision with a Jaguar car driven by a 54-year-old man in the direction of Marlborough.
"The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene."
Mr Staddon was formally identifed yesterday and police have appealed for witnesses to the crash.
