A SWINDON man killed after being hit by a car while walking along a country road has been named as Mark Howard Staddon.

Mr Staddon, 33, was walking along the A4 at Fyfield, near Marlborough, when he was struck by a Jaguar, driven by a 54-year-old man, at 7.20pm on Monday.

Marlborough GP Richard Hook and Simon Routh-Jones, Wiltshire’s chief fire officer, both of whom were off-duty, were first at the scene, while a team from Swift Medics and Great Western Ambulance Service paramedics administered CPR for 25 minutes until the Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed on the A4.

But he was pronounced dead at 9pm and the road was closed for three and a half hours while the Police Serious Collision Investigation Team examined the scene.

Mr Staddon, who lived in Swindon but had family connections in Fyfield, was formally identified yesterday and police have appealed for witnesses to the crash.
