THE Man From The Council will be visiting Swindon schools next week and chaos can be expected.

The Man From The Council is a show from the Momo Theatre Company, and uses humour to engage pupils with road safety and sustainable travel messages. Pupils are encouraged to believe they are watching a presentation from an expert, but his attempts to be serious are undermined by an anarchic assistant.

This is the second year the show has toured the town’s schools, following success last year.

The themes include the benefits of walking and cycling, the effects of car pollution, the advantages of car sharing and road safety advice, all presented in a dynamic way, with audience interraction.

The show is being funded by Swindon Council as part of its commitment to promote safer and smarter journeys to school. It targets pupils who are about to or have recently moved to secondary school, as this is the age they are most at risk of becoming a pedestrian or cycling road casualty.

The opportunity to host the show was offered to all secondary schools in Swindon, with remaining slots offered to primary schools involved in the council’s Travel Ambassador Scheme.
