John Tulley receives a signed Town shirt from Don Rogers, on his 93rd birthday
ROBINS fan John Tully got the perfect present for his 93rd birthday when he was presented with a signed shirt team by former Swindon player Don Rogers before Saturday’s match.
Mr Tully, of Stratton, who has been a supporter since 1952, received the gift just behind the dugout, where Paolo Di Canio was sitting in deep thought ahead of the game against Hartlepool.
The Burma veteran and great-grandfather said he was delighted with the gift, which was organised by his daughter, Sharon, who lives in Cyprus and who also bought him a season ticket for his birthday on January 31.
He said: “Swindon is my local team. I used to come here with my wife. We never used to miss a game. They’re great, I’m very, very pleased with their performance and I hope they carry on as they’ve started.
“I have been to every home match.”
Sharon said: “My mum and dad became life-long Swindon fans, they used to walk together, hand in hand, from Stratton.
“It was their one treat every week.”
