Tune up for a golden concert in honour of Holmes Music

Holmes Music has been at the heart of Swindon’s flourishing music scene for the past 50 years.

Now the music centre in Faringdon Road is celebrating its golden anniversary with a special gig at The Vic, Victoria Road, in Old Town, tomorrow from 8pm.

Holmes Music was started by John Holmes in 1963 and is a family run business, providing musical instruments, advice and instruction to numerous musicians over the years.

Headlining the night will be singer/songwriter Nick Harper, son of the folk singer Roy Harper.

He will be supported by Colour The Atlas.

The anniversary gig will also give people the chance to win a tour for six people of the Marshall Amplifiers headquarters in Milton Keynes, including its museum and theatre, and a chance to try out some equipment on the Marshall stage and take home a goodie bag.

All the proceeds will go towards the Goldenhar syndrome charity.

Goldenhar is a congenital condition that is associated with abnormalities of the head and the bones of the spinal column.

Alan Holmes’ grandson Morgan suffers from Goldenhar and the whole family organises regular fundraising concerts to aid the charity.
