Plans to integrate STFC with businesses in town
10:00am Tuesday 26th February 2013 in News
GARY Hooper wants to make Swindon Town an integral member of the business community.
The club’s new commercial manager has 20 years of experience in the game with Football League clubs including Brentford and QPR, and plans to further integrate the Robins into the town with a series of initiatives designed to drum up support from local trade and business.
Hooper also intends to sit down with the club’s existing sponsors and potential new partners – such as Samsung, EA Sports, Adidas and Four Four Two – to discuss further backing in the near future.
“I would like to introduce a business club here. I’ve always felt that any football club is part of the community and part of the business community,” he said.
“We would like to work with the Chamber of Commerce, work with local business and if we can have business forums here I want the businesses to be part and parcel of Swindon Town Football Club.
“I will be endeavouring to look at all the current contracts at the club to see if we can improve them in any way whatsoever.
“I haven’t been able to speak with (the sponsors) directly. I will be setting up meetings with all the current sponsors and looking at all the current contracts we have at the club. I think some can be improved, some we obviously hope to continue.
“We’re in a fortunate position that we’re top of the league and I’d like to think there are companies out there who we haven’t spoken to or haven’t considered us in the past because of the way the club has been struggling over the last few years.”
Hooper said he would be accessible to fans who have any queries regarding the services provided by the club.
“I’m always open to creative discussions,” he said.
