Swindon Advertiser: Highclere castle Highclere castle

A ROYAL Wootton Bassett woman is preparing to take part in a special fundraising challenge set in the grounds of ITV1’s popular period drama Downton Abbey.

Suzannah Pegler, 33, will be one of 750 runners lining up to take on a special 10km run in the grounds of Highclere Castle near Newbury on April 28.

Suzannah is running for her mother who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s five years ago at the age of 55.

“My mother has Parkinson’s, so taking part in Run Highclere is an ideal opportunity for me to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK which is a worthwhile cause,” she said.

“The run is also providing me with a challenge to lose weight and get fit. I’m a big fan of Downton Abbey and am looking forward to running in the grounds of Highclere Castle.”

Paul Jackson-Clark, director of fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, said: “Those who have dreamed of visiting the home of Downton Abbey now have the opportunity to turn those dreams into a reality. Taking part in Run Highclere is a fantastic way to raise vital funds to support our work.

“We are incredibly grateful to Suzannah for taking on this special challenge and would like to wish her best of luck.”

Places for the run are strictly limited but a few chances to sign up remain. Runners interested in taking part are also invited to don Downton Abbey style period costumes.

Participants must be aged 15 or over on the day. Under 18s must have parental permission to take part. A kids’ fun run takes place at 10.30am before the adults’ run at 11am.

To sign up for a place visit: www.parkinsons.org.uk/highclere or call the Events team on 020 7963 9319. Places are limited so advanced booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
