LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS Swindon Rangers Under 10s
YOUNG TEAM OF THE YEAR: SWINDON RANGERS UNDER 10S
DAVE Steed praised his Swindon Rangers side after their incredible achievements in 2012.
Rangers, who are now an under 11s team, did not lose a single game in any competition last year on their way to a league and cup double.
That impressive run landed them a nomination for Young Team of the Year and voters felt they were hugely deserving of the accolade.
Steed was not at the ceremony as he was busy with training commitments, but he revealed that he was delighted for his squad following their sterling efforts in 2012.
“I had a text telling me they had won it and I was really pleased for them,” he said.
“They deserve it for the amount of effort they put in every week.
“We work on things to put into practice against teams that can challenge us so that we can exploit their weaknesses, and they always concentrate hard.
“They are keen to learn, they listen and have a never-say-die attitude on the pitch.”
Steed feels he may struggle to hold onto his starlets for much longer with other clubs keen to profit from their considerable talents.
“Realistically, I think I have another season or two with them before bigger clubs come in,” he said.
“I’ve had teams in Swindon showing an interest in the last couple of weeks.”
Rangers’ 2012 form has continued into 2013 with the team top of their league and still running in both the league and county cup competitions.
