CUPCAKES and coffee were a welcome treat at a Breast Mates meeting.

Members of the group, which meet every Friday at Drove Children’s Centre from 10am until noon, are inviting more people to join them.

The meetings give members the chance to talk about breast feeding, parenting and going back to work.

Sarah Bush, a parent support advisor and Breast Mates champion, said the group is also for expectant mothers.

“We want to promote the comforting side of mums getting together,” she said.

“ If it leads to an increase in breast feeding then that is definitely a good thing.

“The mums chat to each other and get advice on things like getting back into work. “You can’t get this information online but you can by chatting.”

The group gives mums the chance to get advice from a nursery nurse and support from peers.

“We want to get people confident to breast feed,” Sarah said.

“The bigger the group the more the confidence grows,” For more information about the group visit its website which can be found at www.drovechildrens centre.org.uk or telephone Drove Children’s Centre on 01793 818600.
