Police seek witnesses to fatal crash

POLICE investigating the fatal car crash in Liddington last month have called for more witnesses.

Kanak Al Islam, 23, died shortly after 11pm on Wednesday, February 20 in a collision on the B4192 at Liddington.

The Renault Clio, carrying four male passengers as well as Kanak, collided with a road sign and then rolled before coming to rest on the roadside.

The driver, who had bought the car just hours before, and a rear seat passenger were trapped inside the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The remaining three passengers were able to free themselves from the vehicle.

Emergency services including Wiltshire Police, the Great Western Ambulance Service and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and freed the two seriously injured men.
Both were taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon but Kanak later died from his injuries.

The injured rear seat passenger, Abdul Kader, 24, was later transferred to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The three remaining passengers received relatively minor injuries.

Wiltshire Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or the car previous to the collision and is appealing for anyone who may have seen this vehicle on or around the B4192 between 10pm and 11.15pm on February 20 to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
