Levi Sibthorpe wins the Rubik’s Cube test to reveal the bonus figure for staff at John Lewis
WORKERS at John Lewis in the town will be solving the puzzle of what to spend their bonus on after receiving the equivalent of nine weeks’ pay for this year.
Staff at the Mannington store gathered early yesterday morning for the big reveal, which involved them solving a Rubik’s Cube. The fastest to do so got to open the envelope containing the magic bonus number.
Strong sales figures across both John Lewis and Waitrose saw profits rise for both firms, with the former recording £216m – a 37 per cent rise on the year before.
Levi Sibthorpe had the fastest hands and got to open the envelope in front of expectant colleagues, duly tearing it apart and waving the 17 per cent figure – roughly nine weeks’ wages – aloft to a chorus of cheers.
The 16-year-old said: “I’m really happy I got to open the envelope – when I came in and saw the disco balls and the Rubik’s Cube I knew I had a chance because I’ve been doing them for a while now.
“I was shaking and it was so tense. Seventeen per cent is amazing, there were reports as low as 13 but all the hard work paid off. This will pay off my holiday.”
Last year’s bonus stood at 14 per cent – seven weeks’ pay – even after a less successful year for the group, but this year sales have soared.
Dominic Joyce, branch manager, said the Swindon store recorded a profit of £2m.
He said: “Against the backdrop of a challenging retail environment we are pleased to have put in a robust performance during the year at John Lewis at home Swindon.
“Customers have continued to put their faith in us, purchasing from our extensive range of televisions and tablets, along with strong growth in furniture and home furnishings.
“It has also been fantastic to see Mannington Retail Park enhance the customer offer with the addition of further retail outlets opened towards the end of 2012.
“It has been a great year in Swindon and I would like to thank all of our Partners who continue to provide the high standards of service and shopping experience our customers have come to expect.
“They are an outstanding team who I am personally very proud of.”

Congratulations to John Lewis and its staff.
I am a great fan of the store and it is evident that being a cooperative, is making a huge difference considering the state of the economy, and online competition.
Have you no shame?

17% bonus for John Lewis partners is an amazing achievement for both the Brand and the employees, considering the current state of the retail sector.
The difference, AG, is that banks have been bailed out by us, still not lending to businesses and starving the Economy of the cash it needs, yet they find acceptable to pay themselves 100% bonuses worth millions.
John Lewis partners are beating the High Street gloom and successfully competing against tax avoiding online businesses, this is an outstanding achievement, I am very proud of them and prouder yet because it is a British Business, and you should be too!

You can't have it both ways with bonuses, either you pay them or not. Just because John Lewis fits nicely into your fanatical left wing agenda doesn't mean it's right.
Incidentally John Lewis has just announced staff cuts. So, still paying out bonuses while at the same time throwing people out of the jobs - how disgraceful. A boycot of the grossly overpriced John Lewis group should start immediately as a protest.
How a hypocite such as yourself can sleep at night is beyond me.

The best way to shut itsamess up is to point him to the thread which shows everyone how deranged he is:

Read the whole thread and you'll be amazed at how un-hinged he is.
But the ultimate in his embarrassment is his post at: 12:30pm Mon 2 Jan 12. Please read - it's hilarious!

You do like to come here occasionally with these comments that vary from time to time.
Usually you begin with "Hows your case going" I have no case going--that is something your brain fails to compute.
I merely made a case that was passed for re-investigation and resulted in a successful application to have a full appeal heard as new forensic evidence proves beyond doubt some documents were altered and by who.
Usually i simply ignore you.
My question on the article was reasonable as John Lewis claim to follow a non tax avoidance policy and if they pay a bonus pre tax--they avoid the tax on that amount--the workers do not.
Other than that i have nothing more to contribute to this thread. as you do like to destroy every thread you come on.

It's all just a ridiculously deranged construct. The nuclear scientist position, the knowing a family member in every village in Wiltshire, the knowing various judges - and now even the PCC himself.
I fully suspect he's a housebound retiree who has no status or control over anything bar his own meals and has nothing better/else to do than try and threaten people on here. He guess he is at least semi-competent at copy & pasting from Wikipedia, though.
If he wasn't so immensely unlikeable, people might even feel a bit sorry for him.

How pathetic your life must be when your only form of entertainment is to continuously launch personal attacks when you have been shown to be giving out false claims.
Even now you are just latching on to claims made by others--there is a vast difference between gaining evidence to show wilful lying in a court of law to secure a conviction to secure an appeal over 25 years since the case and is on the warned list.
I was born in SM and lived there for many years and a family member lives there now with her family. The only other member of the family i have mentioned is an in law-a QC.
I have never claimed to personally know any judges--like most folk of course i know some judges from news items etc. I do know the PCC personally.
Do point out any threats i have made and do be specific.
Your suspicions as to my lifestyle bear no resemblance to reality and a very desperate attempt to cover up your own failings.

As for the now departed publican, it was indeed correct that itsamess has continually said he was going to have him locked up.
Itsamess makes claims that Robfm was involved in a case when if I recall he had already left the police.
Going back to the article and another odd itsamess comment, the bonus would be paid via the PAYE system and thus the company doesn't avoid their legal responsibility to pay NI on the bonus. So what is exactly are they avoiding?

Do try to report what i say--not your out of context comments.
On your claim the sisters would be coming for lunch i installed a motion sensed camera close by which picked out any visitors. I hear you shouting breach of human rights--only if its used--a friend is copying it blanking out number plates and faces--no breach--guess who was not on it?'

Not bob said--Going back to the article and another odd itsamess comment, the bonus would be paid via the PAYE system and thus the company doesn't avoid their legal responsibility to pay NI on the bonus. So what is exactly are they avoiding?”My question on the article was reasonable as John Lewis claim to follow a non tax avoidance policy and if they pay a bonus pre tax--they avoid the tax on that amount--the workers do not.
So not bob seems not able to understand the difference between Tax and NI. Any PAYE employee will know that if they have more in their pay packet both NI and tax increase depending on their tax code. Thus as the payments are recorded as wages this will reduce the companies tax burden.
The link seems to have caused a few problems to claimed experts and of course not bob claimed
"Managed to get it to work, you are right there was a space replaced by a % sign" (to Tim) whereas he did not and posted the same flawed link.
The article itself involved a claim that on certain day the barman claimed his pub was packed for a specific reason and 2 sisters would be there for a specific reason--they were not-the video proved that.
That video was put on the net and did not attract enough viewers to go viral.
So to not bob--do tell your friend the case pending appeal has nothing to do with that post and that everybody knows on here from past posts the date he joined the police and when he left.

As for the bonus, all bonuses are paid pre tax, whether at JLP or at Barclays Bank.
As for this ficticious court case. You stated it was 25 years ago in 2010, it was a matter of public record Robfm left the police in 1985, so could not have been involved.
I think you will find he is still free as he still posts eleswhere.

As i also said--you claim to be a new poster--in 2010 our barman claimed 25 years in pubs. His full details were given out on here and photos in uniform with a link.I have only said the original trial was early 80s.

I think I also recall Robfm saying the last 2 or 3 years of his police career he was a community policeman. So that takes us back to 83/84.
However hard you try your allegations simply don't stackup.

Secondly you claim to be a 3rd party with no direct interest in the case.
As the case is on the warned list the sub-judice rules apply.

So when was the trial then Mr Itsamess. You have stated 25 years ago on several occasions, so 25 years from when, given you started this fiasco in August 2010 I believe.
I think I also recall Robfm saying the last 2 or 3 years of his police career he was a community policeman. So that takes us back to 83/84.

As I've pointed out to you on another thread:
1. My link worked perfectly, as anyone who uses it will discover. Why you continue to insist it doesn't work, when it demonstrably does work, is very strange. Also very funny, though.
2. Most people know what makes a video go viral - it's hardly quantum physics. That you even commented on the fact your video hadn't gone viral was utterly hysterical.
A CCTV camera clip of the car park of a small, unknown country pub? Yeah, I wonder why that didn't end up on a million Facebook pages... you'll be claiming you invented the Harlem Shake next.
Give it up, messy, your complete ignorance regarding anything to do with the Internet merely makes you sound like my senile great aunt.

Tim I've scoured the internet and can't find this video. Perhaps Mr Itsamess would like to give us the title so we can find it.
