A MAN has been taken to hospital after being involved in a hitand run in Dudmore Road.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.45pm and found the 22-year-old man with serious leg injuries.

He was taken to Great Western Hospital and was expected to be transferred to John Radcliffe this afternoon.

Officers have cordoned off a small area and have closed the road.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "I didn't see anything but my daughter heard a bang. She looked out and saw a bloke laying on the floor and it looked like his leg was badly broken.

"She said the car just sped off."

Sgt Barrie Card, who is on the scene, said: "We have a 22-year-old male who has been struck by a car, which is believed to be grey or dark silver.

"The man sustained serious leg injuries.

"The car that struck the man failed to stop and we would like anyone with information to give us a call."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101.
