Jail threat for man in stabbing

Swindon Crown Court
A 23-year-old man who stabbed his mum’s partner has been warned he could be facing a jail term.
Craig Williams pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm in relation to the incident in the early hours of January 27.
He had been charged with the more serious charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, which he denied.
But Colin Meeke, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court the Crown accepted the plea to the lesser charge and would not be seeking a trial.
The defendant stabbed 35-year-old Neil Carter during an altercation at a house on Leighton Avenue shortly after midnight.
Williams, formerly of Warneford Close, Toothill, but now living in Radstock Avenue, Park North, pleaded guilty to GBH.
Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to April 5 so the probation service can compile a pre-sentence report.
He released him on bail on condition he resides at his new home and does not have any contact with the victim.
“The fact you are being granted bail should not be taken as any indication of the final outcome of your case.”
