Action for young filmmakers
SWINDON Council’s Create Studios are kicking off their national First Light Award by making three films with more than 60 new young filmmakers in Swindon, ready to premiere by the summer.
The team at Create Studios are in pre-production on Rachel’s Nightmares, a dark fantasy drama about an orphan girl’s tragic journey from birth to adulthood. The second film is Super Hero, a short CGI animation, a collaboration with Rendermedia CGI and Crowdys Hill School. It explores the relationship between a group of characters each with their own special ability, which when combined generates a powerful solution to overcome life’s everyday obstacles. Crowdys students will provide the ideas for the production with professionals in the area of script development and the whole project will be developed by Create’s successful CGI Summerschool group.
The third film is an innovative soundscape with Swindon Academy pupils. A class clown takes every day as if it were a circus performance, but really he is hiding behind the act so no one can see what is happening in his home life.
The films will premiere in the summer before being shared online. First Light is a UK-wide organisation that uses film and media production to develop skills in young people aged up to 25.
