STUDENTS at The Dorcan Academy have been busy working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze awards.

The scheme, which was introduced in September, has seen the youngsters getting involved in community efforts such as helping to decorate Covingham Park Primary School’s medical room, which was funded by events organised by Charlotte Doble, Teigan Davis and Georgina Pitts.

Other activities have included creating a stained glass window for the main reception of the academy, Paige Stones volunteering at a Cancer Research charity shop and Chloe Wheatley leading arts and crafts sessions at Liden Primary school.

The DoE scheme is designed to promote growth and development for students and the community.

The next stage of the scheme will see pupils preparing for their summer expedition, in which they will navigate on a walking trip.
