London calling for ‘cool’ guitar school
SWINDON Guitar School has long been an institution of Old Town and now its students can attend one of the best music schools in London.
The school in Victoria Road has become The Howard Tucker Academy of Performing Arts which will also act as a feeder school for The Institute in London.
Howard Tucker will take musicians through the pre-school qualifications needed to attain entrance and auditions for the Institute.
The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance based in London, is widely regarded as one of Europe’s leading schools of modern music.
Located in London and established more than 25 years ago, it has been developing and delivering cutting-edge courses to students of contemporary music for longer than any other UK-based school.
The school was also nominated in 2011 to teach rock and pop exams issued by Trinity College London which started in January last year.
Howard Tucker said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for all young musicians to study at a contemporary institute which partners all the big music companies, the record companies, and talent scouts in London.
“As they study they will perform in many venues in London having opportunities to be a solo singer,a session musician or a part of a number one selling band.
“It has taken a lot of work and time on my part but this is a massive thing.
“This is a great thing for the school and for Swindon and I think they have chosen us because we strive to be contemporary and we are cool.
“It is also giving the chance for people in the surrounding area to come to Swindon and complete the course so it will attract talent to the town. This is going to be a huge boost for music in Swindon.”
