STAFF from Dorcan Leisure Centre were presented with a Pride Of Swindon certificate for their heroics in saving the life of a boy who had been hit by lightning.

Joe Compton was struck in September last year and the quickctions of the staff have meant he has made a full recovery.

They responded within seconds and were able to administer CPR to get his heart working before an ambulance could arrive.

It was their calmness under pressure that was credited with saving Joe’s life.

Because of their professional and prompt actions Joe has now returned to school.

“The proudest part for us is that Joe is still alive,” said Stuart Arthur, the manager of the leisure centre.

“It is so nice to get this award from Swindon.

“When we got the call we were very grateful and even more so when you take a look around at who else is being given an award here today.”

A credit to the Dorcan team. Well done and very brave for them to save this boys life, where many would of walked on.
