Have your say on Seqol’s services
9:20am Monday 18th March 2013 in News
SEQOL will be holding an open event this week for the public to find out more and have their say on services.
The local social enterprise which provides health, social care and supported employment services in Swindon, will hold the Helping You Make the Most of Life event on Friday at the Central Community Centre, in Emlyn Square, between noon and 2.30pm, and between 4.30pm until 6.30pm.
It will showcase the work that SEQOL does in the community, including information on the energy2work programme, which helps place people with disabilities into rewarding, full-time employment, and the Independent Living programme, which gives support to people with long-term health needs or disabilities so they can live as independently as possible.
Visitors will also be able to find out more how SEQOL can help anyone improve their lives by stopping smoking, providing health checks and footcare.
More information will be available on SEQOL Volunteers, where the public help by volunteering on a range of projects.
Heather Mitchell, chief executive of SEQOL, said: “We’ve now completed our first full year of working in the community and we’re looking forward to meeting members of the public to find out their views on the past year and help shape our future plans.”

It is a pity that the Labour group on the council could not see what the benefits were when the social enterprise was being setup. A lot of alarm and despondency could have been avoided.
This is a model of how future council services could be run.
I realise in saying this that the apologists for the socialists will have something to say on the subject.
But it is good to see a real success story in the media.
Well done.
