Festival talent gets top marks this year
9:00pm Tuesday 19th March 2013 in News
SWINDON Music Festival is in full swing and the standard of competition is higher than ever.
The festival began last Friday and runs until the weekend.
This year has seen adjudicators awarding a higher than normal amount of distinctions – one of the highest marks possible.
“The festival has been going very well,” said festival secretary Yvonne Walker.
“The high standard that is normally achieved has certainly been maintained and is probably higher.”
There is plenty of variety on offer, with competitions in all instrumental and vocal classes.
The range of competitors is just as varied, with children as young as five entering alongside some 90-year-olds.
“I think what makes the Swindon Music Festival so good is that it has a very personal touch to it,” said Yvonne. “The organisers have passed the baton down through the generations. For example, the father of our current chairman, Geoff Walters, used to be the chairman himself.”
