TWO RUNNERS completed an extraordinary challenge on Tuesday by completing three marathons on consecutive days.

Adam Wainwright and Corrinne Davis ran from The County Ground, in Swindon, on Sunday morning and arrived at Huish Park in Yeovil in time to see Swindon win.

The pair were running to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, the official charity of the year for Swindon Town FC.

“I’m not in too bad shape,” said Adam, 32, a marketing and promotions executive at the club.

“I’ve got a huge blister on my little toe but other than that my body feels as though it could do another run. Don’t hold me to that though.”

Adam and Corrinne, who works as a personal trainer at Kiss Gym, have so far managed to raise nearly £4,000 but feel that once everyone has come forward with cheques that have been promised the amount could be closer to £5,000.

“I’m absolutely delighted with what we’ve raised. I want to thank everyone who’s donated as it’s a great cause,” Adam said.

The pair were running for about six hours a day and Adam admitted that there were times when it got tough.

“It did sometimes get fairly bad but it’s much easier when there is someone there to push you through,” he said.

“It was like that in training. At times you just have to grit your teeth and be determined to push through it.

“Having a good friend doing it as well makes it easier.

The couple arrived at Huish Park in time to see Town beat their promotion rivals 2-0.

And they said it was something which made the pain seem worth it.

“We were not sure what state we’d be in when we got to the ground,” said Adam.

“We asked Yeovil to prepare a dark room for us to rest in if we needed it but in the end it was great to see Swindon win.”

“It certainly made the journey home much easier.”

This is not the first challenge Adam has done for Wiltshire Air Ambulance. In October he took part in a charity trek in Morocco, and raised £2,000.

Now he is already thinking about his next challenge.

“On the bus home my mind started to wander towards what I can do next. I’m thinking possibly of a running and cycle race between Lands End and John O’Groats,” he said.

“The first thing I am doing is going on holiday.”

Adam, do you have any boots? You're probably fitter than some of the team at the moment!
