LITERATURE fans will have their eyes on the Central Library this lunchtime as the full line-up for the 20th Swindon Festival of Literature is announced.

The programme will be officially launched at 12.30pm and tickets go on sale straight after.

Some of the names gracing the two week event, which runs from May 6 -18, have already been revealed. They include the former head of MI5 Stella Rimmington, broadcaster and writer Clare Balding, founder of ChildLine Esther Rantzen, former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone, impressionist and comedian Alistair McGowan and best-selling crime writer PD James.

Last year, festival director Matt Holland tried to embrace the discussion of ideas and it is a pattern he has continued, even if the names will be well-known to many.

“It’s going crazy – they all want to come,” he said.

“What I’m most pleased about is the variety of guests we’ve got. Sorry to use an overused phrase, but there is something for everyone.”
