FOURTEEN teams, including one from Swindon, took part in the third annual Premier League’s Down’s Syndrome Football Festival at West Bromwich Albion’s Foundation at the weekend.

More than 150 players and 700 spectators from 14 different teams took part in this year’s event, making it the biggest festival yet. Clive Maguire, STFITC Community Manager, said the youngsters from Swindon had enjoyed the day.

“It was a huge success for our lads who played four fixtures,” he said.

“Our first fixture against Hull City saw Shamus Blackler score a hattrick putting us 3-1 ahead before narrowly losing 4-3 .

“The highlight was a gallant 5-2 victory over Moorside Rangers who are associated with Bolton Wanderers.
