Cullingworth pupils spruce up beauty spot ready for open day

10:00am Tuesday 2nd April 2013

Pupils of Cullingworth Primary School have been sprucing up village beauty spot The Dell.
The youngsters cleared rubbish and planted trees in readiness for an open day to be held on April 20.
The day, which was also attended by council warden Margaret Kershaw, was organised by Bradford Environmental Education Service (BEES). Village councillor Pauline Sharp, who oversees improvement work at The Dell, said: “The children were brilliant on the day – we can’t thank them enough.”
The open day is aimed at encouraging villagers to join a new Friends of the Dell to care for the wooded area off Greenside Lane.
Several organisations will be running stalls and activities at the adjacent scout hut, and people will be able to go down into The Dell.
For the past two years Cullingworth Village Council and BEES have led improvements to the beck.
Future plans include putting in fencing and information boards.
