A MAN has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent following an assault in a churchyard in Highworth.
A man was found with serious injuries in St Michael’s churchyard in Lechlade Road on Thursday shortly before 2.30pm.
The area was sealed off by police while investigations took place.
A police spokesman said: “Wiltshire Police received a call shortly before 2.30pm on Thursday, April 13, to reports of an assault in St Michaels churchyard, Lechlade Road, Highworth.
“A 22-year-old male was found with serious injuries and taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon for medical treatment. He was released from hospital the same day.”
Richard John Wright, 23, of Windrush, Highworth, is due to appear at Chippenham Magistrates’ Court today charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
