A NURSING home is celebrating after being recognised for the efforts it takes to look after its staff, as well as residents.

Moormead Nursing Home has achieved the Investors in People standard for the 15th year running.

The award is businesses and organisations that ensure their staff work to the highest standard.

“We’re all very proud to have achieved this,” said Julie Lloyd, activities coordinator for the care home.

“There are not many of the awards given out in the area so we are all chuffed to bits. This is a great place to work.

“I think we have been given it because we have good management and good training programmes.

The home employs 28 staff, many of whom had to be interviewed by inspectors during the awards process.

“We have annual checks and then some of the staff are questioned by Investors in People to find out a bit more.”

Steve Sharp, care home owner, is delighted to have once again maintained the high standard of staff care.

He said: “I firmly believe the staff are key to Moormead Nursing Home’s success. They put a tremendous amount of time and effort in to making sure they are fully engaged with the business ethos.”
