OFFICERS in Swindon have arrested two men after power tools and other items were taken from insecure vehicles.

Police received reports of two men climbing a fence and acting suspiciously in the Cheney Manor Road area shortly before 4am yesterday.

Police were at the scene within two minutes and sighted two men matching the descriptions given. Each of them were carrying two power tools and drawstring bags. When asked to stop the men dropped the tools and ran into a wooded area close by.

The other suspect, an 18-year-old from Swindon, was arrested later that morning, also on suspicion of theft.

Both men have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Two Makita and two Dewalt power tools and cases were recovered and officers are keen to trace their owners. They are also keen to remind people to consider the security of their property.
