PUPPIES being put through their paces have helped raised money for the Dogs’ Trust.

Hundreds of dogs took part in an agility competition at the Old Town Rotary Club’s annual duck race in May and raised £220 for the dog welfare charity, based in Salisbury.

Janet Garrett, who runs Janet’s Puppy Skool, staged the competition to raise money for what she said was a good cause.

She said she was delighted by how many dogs and owners took part in the agility competition.

She said: “I set up a fun agility course and charged £1.50 for entries so that tells you how many people we had take part.

“We had a stopwatch and we timed everyone, with the first, second and third-placed dogs and owners taking home prizes.

“The oldest dog we had was 14-and-a-half and the youngest was five months, so we modified the course a little bit for them.

“It was really good fun and the weather was amazing which helped. I’m so pleased we have raised so much for the Dogs’ Trust, which I chose as my charity this year.

“As a qualified behaviourist I’m involved in the dog world and last year we raised money for another charity.

“Dogs Trust do great work and their centres are always immaculate.

“All their dogs are living in the best environment they can but I know they are proud of their rehoming record.”
