GREENE King staff and customers at the Woodlands Edge pub in Peatmoor are hoping to dish up £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support on September 7.

The Hungry Horse pub team will join customers to cycle 50km from the pub to East Kennet, just past Avebury, and back again.

Nick Horner, manager of the Woodlands Edge, said: “It was the idea of one of our regular customers, Dawn Flanagan, and the team here really got behind the idea.

“They are attempting to complete the 50km ride in just four-and-a-half hours, hoping to raise awareness and funds for Macmillan.”

The event is part of a three-year partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and Greene King that will see teams from the pub retailer fundraising for the charity.

Rachel Gascoigne, partnership account manager at Macmillan, said: “It’s great to see staff and customers at the Woodlands Edge throwing themselves into their fundraising for Macmillan. It’s events like these that really add up and make a difference to people affected by cancer.”

Nick added: “Everyone knows somebody who has been affected by cancer – it really is a great cause and a great way to involve the local community.”
