Bail ahead of sentence for violent robber
12:50pm Tuesday 20th August 2013 in News
A MAN who took part in a violent attempted robbery where a man was left bleeding in his driveway has been released on bail by a judge.
Benjamin Robinson admitted being involved in the attack where he and an accomplice tried to rob a 55-year-old of money.
The 25-year-old and another man, who has not been caught, beat up the victim and ‘put the boot in’ during the after-dark attack on Tuesday, April 30.
Judge Alistair McGrigor said initially he felt a pre-sentence report was not necessary as the offence was so serious.
But after Chris Oswald, defending, insisted he would be assisted by a pre-sentence report the judge agreed to adjourn the case.
Putting the matter off to Friday, September 6 he told the defendant: “You must be under no illusion that a custodial sentence is likely to be the result.”
