Royal Wootton Bassett gives stamp of approval to ‘new’ PO
12:20pm Friday 30th August 2013 in News
ROYAL Wootton Bassett Post Office grand opening took place yesterday, much to the delight of the local community.
The post office has been given a new, modern, open-plan look, and will offer extended business hours.
Owner Ashwin Patel hosted the opening event, at which mayor Linda Frost cut the ribbon on the new store.
Mr Patel, who has owned the business on the High Street since April 2011, said: “I’m really pleased with the refurb. They’ve done a fantastic job and the feedback from the customers has been really positive.
“It’s been a lot of hard work and I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights, but the results are fantastic and the feedback from the customers has been great – we’ve had some very positive comments.”
The new store has four serving positions, a combination of one traditional screened and two open-plan counter positions, with a post office serving point at the retail counter – a new concept for delivering Post Office products and services alongside retail transactions.
Opening hours at the new branch are Monday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, and Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm.
The serving point at the retail till offers most Post Office products and services from 6.30am to 5.45pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday, 6.30am to 5.30pm – an increase of 20.75 hours a week.
