POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault which left a woman needing hospital treatment.

The incident happened at approximately 12.20am on August 25 in Milford Street, close to the train station.

A group of men and women walked from the station along Milford Street before two of the males began fighting following an earlier altercation.

One of the males then punched a 32-year-old woman in the face causing significant facial injuries. This victim required hospital treatment for her injuries.

Wiltshire Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between midnight on August 24 and 12.30am on August 25.

The group were on the train from Bath, which left that station at approximately 11.30pm.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
