THE Wiltshire Blind Association is running a course in Swindon to help people with a visual impairment come to terms with their sight loss.

Moving On is a course of six three-hour weekly sessions that includes information, advice and practical support for anyone with sight impairment.

Experts from external support organisations lead discussion groups and workshops, giving people the skills and confidence to get the most out of their daily lives.

Maggie Hemmings, Moving On co-ordinator at the WBA, said: “Sight loss can happen at any age and often causes devastation to the lives of those concerned and their families.

“We’re providing the opportunity for people with sight loss to meet others in a similar situation and to share information, experiences and emotions and help them build their personal confidence to meet the challenges of daily living.”

Anyone interested in attending the course should contact Maggie on 01380 723682 or email enquiries@wiltshireblind.org.

There is a £5 booking fee to reserve a place and refreshments are provided free of charge.

The Moving On course at Gorse Hill Community Centre, Chapel Street, starts on Tuesday from 10am to 1pm and runs on consecutive Tuesdays until October 15.
