Sales of new cars are up by a quarter
7:40am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
IT’S a bumper September for Pebley Beach with a rush from Swindon’s car enthusiasts for a Hyundai or a Suzuki with a brand new ‘63’ plate.
Sales of new cars at Pebley Beach are up by almost a quarter for the introduction of the new registration year compared to this time last year.
The Suzuki Swift and Alto and Hyundai i10 and i20 were the cars fastest out of the showroom doors at the weekend. Pebley staff even gave up their Sunday to come in and hand over new cars to waiting customers. In order to make sure that each customer receives a full handover of their car and that they are confident in driving it away, Pebley Beach limits the number of cars that can be picked up each day. Due to the restricted Sunday trading hours, Hyundai vehicles quickly reached their maximum, and eager drivers have been in on Monday and Tuesday to get their hands on their new vehicles.
Dom Threlfall, managing director of Pebley, said: “Swindon’s car owners are always keen to have new vehicles and so each March and September we always see a rush of people through our doors and this year is no exception with a 24 per cent increase.
“This also means that we receive a higher number of used vehicles as part exchange as well and so this is also a great time for people looking to buy a quality second hand car. “Many of our customers come back time and time again to upgrade their vehicles, so the majority of our used stock is well known to us and have full Pebley Beach histories.”
